Good Day Mary Jane: A Review of Orion Sun's Record
a record that captured my producer's ears and touched my soul...
To no one's surprise, 420 the numeric digit gets me excited. I love numbers. I love THC.
One afternoon while playing Fortnite with a focus my art will never appreciate, I heard a record with a raspy familiar voice yearning on about Mary Jane. I'm no Peter Parker though I too know about Mary. She gets around.
From my first listen, it was obvious Mary pleases Orion as she does me. Maybe more if she wrote a song about it.
I didn't save this record to my LIKED Playlist for the words nor theme. The isolated kiddish guitar melody tickled my producer's ears. That melodic lust may die never.
Once Orion (the artist/singer-songwriter) enters with "There was a man that I met with a green hat on…" I AM HOOKED. The story begins.
"He said he had a pack and there's a sale going on.... THAT'S WHAT HE SAID.
Notice you were down in the dumps…
GOOD DAY MART JANE….
TAKE THIS PAIN AWAY. "
This songwriting is so on the nose. It resonated with me so much because of the pain.
I am one of the warriors fighting internal battles. Of course it sounds facetious or more than it is. I remember being scared of smoking weed and paranoia. One day I decided not to be scared and face it. Everything I smoked. Granted, no one should be too paranoid by the psychoactive effects of THC. That street bud changed.
This record has a Smino No Fatigue to it. The keys popping in with the guitar change up is almost as soothing as the string breakdown with Orion crying "WHAT IF I LOSE IT ALL".
Goodness. Never related so much as a non self ascribed adult.
Good Day Mary Jane. It is wonderful to know you.
